Nostalgia
I just took a look back at my posts from long ago and wow. Words cannot convey how I feel so I just will not try to explain. Just throwing it out there; everything is going great.

Mediation
Meditation is the best way to live in the present. I have meditated off and on in the past. Recently, I have started up the habit again. When starting out, I felt like it was a waste of time; however, meditation has many benefits. Meditation is good for the soul. I feel much more healthy spiritually when I meditate frequently. Living in the present just makes life more simple. Simplicity is...

Life is short. Though each day seems to last a decade, a year goes by in a second. What am I supposed to do with all those seconds? Pursue happiness? I do not even know how to do that. I can try to exercise and live longer but why? I will probably lose more time exercising than if I did something else. I can party; that is always fun. Too bad all the happiness is just a facade. Maybe if I have...

The Guy's Really Good
Peter: "No, I can't do that. She'll get all pissed off. And besides, I think that the guy might actually be able to help. I mean, he did help Anne lose weight."
Samir: "Peter, she's anorexic."
Peter: "Yeah, I know. The guy's really good."

Xbox Gamepad
A while ago I cut the cord of an xbox controller and soldered the appropriate wires to a usb cord. With the xbcd driver I could use it with the computer. Unfortunately there was something wrong with the wire and after about a month it stopped working. I noticed the problem was around where the cord connected to the controller. I decided my best chance of fixing it was to remove the whole xbox part...

10th Grade Girl: (talking to others) Well you don't need a passport since Canada is in America.
Me: (passing by) You're kidding right?
Girl: What?
Me: Canada is not part of America.
Girl: Yeah, okay. (others agree with me) No way! You guys are just messing with me!
Me: That was possibly the stupidest thing I have heard in my entire life.
Girl: I know you're just kidding. You're just trying to make me look stupid.
Me: (aside) If anything makes me lose faith in the education system, it is this.

TV
Most forms of entertainment require some effort. Whether you are reading a book, browsing the web, or playing a game, you need to use your mind. On the other hand, Television requires almost no effort to enjoy. You can turn on, tune in, and drop out. It might as well be a drug. You can watch it once in a while but is harmful if it is something you center around.

C
I remember when I first started to get into programming, I always saw C as being extremely difficult and no more useful than other languages that I could learn. Also, most websites would recommend not learning it as your first language. So I pushed it aside and continued to learn more about different types of languages and the positives of each. Eventually the point was reached where I wanted to...

AIM Chatrooms
For the past few days I have been going into popular aol instant messaging chatrooms. Initially, it was my purpose to spread word of this site. I quickly ended up becoming entwined in conversations. Some were meaningful about things such as politics and philosophy. Others were painful. It is no surprise that the majority of users in chatrooms are not very intelligent and are assholes; however, the...

Have you ever taken a shower or bath then realized you forgot to bring a towel (Towlie would be ashamed). You cannot go get one because the other people in the house do not enjoy seeing you naked. You look around for absorbent things before you freeze. Of course you cannot use your clothes; it is better to wait to air dry than that. You see your relatives or roomates towels hanging. Is it worth...

Lucid Dreaming
Feel like you waste too much time sleeping? Learn to dream lucidly. I have attempted to master this before, but I already have enough problems falling asleep to try to dream lucidly. Essentially, you can be conscious in your dreams. First, you need to be able to remember your dreams or else you would not even remember if you were lucid. You need to perform tests throughout the day that show you...

Firefox
Raised on Windows computers, I was unaware it was possible to browse the web with anything other than Internet Explorer. I then discovered the page del.icio.us that showed me the whole world technology on the internet. The first thing I did was download Firefox. I was amazed what I had been missing out on. Tabbed browsing was the first thing I came to enjoy but extensions sealed the deal. I have...

Fuck, etc
It just occurred to me how civil the language is on tumblr, in total absence of the FCC or any other regulating body. I rarely use vulgar language on here (relative to how often the words pop into my head!). It’s funny, if someone were trying to stop me, every post would have ‘fuck’ in it until one of us was destroyed. — jakoblodwick My first response to seeing this post was...

A Beginner's Guide to Forth →
I was looking at the statistics at Project Euler and noticed that Forth was absent from the list of languages (not that surprising). I decided that I needed to answer at least the first problem in the language; however, I have not touched Forth in about a year so I needed to jog my memory. Normally, I would have looked at Starting Forth but a search yielded this site. I am not sure if it has just...

Haskell
Besides being a nearby town, Haskell is an ‘arcane’ programming language and happens to be one of my favorites (Ruby will always be #1 as it was what really got me into programming. Yes, I know it is a scripting language.). While some find it difficult to learn, I find it to be only moderately difficult. Of course I have the advantage of taking pre-calculus at the same time as learning...

Underdose
It’s been almost a week since taking any of my ‘creative’ drugs (coffee & pot). Here I am with a tremendous amount of energy, up late, writing all sorts of ideas. And not just in tumblr. I have a 1400-word Google Document in-progress that’s a rough draft for a new creative project. And this is at the end of a busy day. I think I need to reprogram myself into knowing...
